  • How long can I check out a book, I am a Faculty/Student/Staff?

All undergraduate students may check out books in general circulation (not on reserve) for 21 days, - graduate students for 42 days. Faculty and staff may check out books for 120 days. Community/TexShare users with a TexShare card may check-out circulating materials for 21 days. Certain categories of items have shorter check out periods, like 2 hours for Course Reserve books and 7 days for Juvenile books. Pay attention to the due date specified at check out.

  • How do I check out a book?

Students, faculty, and staff may check out circulating items by presenting a valid PVAMU ID card. TexShare - member patrons shall use TexShare ID cards obtained from their home institutions to check-out materials from the Coleman Library.

  • How do I get a library card?

  • I need to renew my book?

Circulating books may be renewed if there are no holds or recalls. A valid/current ID  number is needed for renewals and books may be renewed by telephone. There is a maximum of three (3) renewals per patron.

  • How do I request Interlibrary Loan?

ILL requests are to be requested online by the requester using the Interlibrary Loan link on the Library webpage. You are required to use your PVAMU email account.

  • Who do I contact about my ILL request?

Interlibrary loan questions should be directed through the interlibrary loan email, interlibraryloan@pvamu.edu or by calling the circulation desk, 936-261-1542.

  • Can I book a study room on the second floor?

The Individual Study Rooms are available for 2 hour periods by reservations. Rooms must be occupied within 15 minutes of requested time. Circulation staff reserve the right to allow use of rooms (first come, first served) when no reservation is pending.

  • What are the library late book fees and two-hour reserves book fees?

A fine is charged for each day an item is overdue.  The following charges will be made: Regular circulating books — $ .25 per day to a maximum of $65.00. Reserve Materials — Do not have fines  Lost or unreturned books — the total replacement cost charged to patrons is $65.00/book This includes a cost of replacement fee for each book/item (default of $50.00/book if replacement cost is not specified in the item record) plus a $15.00/book processing charge.
