Fines and Fees

The date a book or other circulation item is to be returned to the library, the due date, is stamped in each book or printed on a receipt. Patrons are responsible for returning all borrowed items on time whether or not an overdue notice is received. Overdue notices will be sent to patron’s PVAMU email within fourteen (14) days of the due date, with a second notice sent after twenty-one (21) days.

Books may be returned to the John B. Coleman Library at the circulation counter, in the book return slot at the circulation counter, in the book drop box at the main entrance or the outside book return on the west side of the library. The borrower is responsible for material lost due to improper returns.

Fines may be paid online or at the Cashier’s window in the W. R. Banks Building. A fine is charged for each day an item is overdue.

The following charges (Overdue fines) will be made: Regular circulating books - $ .25 per day to a maximum of $65.00; Reserve Materials - maximum is $90.00.

The default Lost Item fee charged to patrons is $65.00/book. This includes a default replacement fee of $50.00/book plus a $15.00/book non-refundable processing charge.
