All I need is your PPT that discusses slides engaging the audience about the STEM teaching curriculum, state and national standards, textbooks, unconventional methods to teaching STEM. Your STEM history.. have slides with resources to share with the attendees as well- create no more than 5-7 slides.

I want you to feel confident like I am that our presentation is ready to go. We will connect with the students at dinner Wednesday night to walk through our talking points we will call it a working dinner. I want the students to enjoy the conference and have fun- Plus, Wednesday we need to head over to the space center to register and check in so we do not need to worry about those action items on Thursday.

Early check in is Wednesday from 1- 5 pm >> https://sites.grenadine.co/sites/spacecenter/en/seec2024/pages/25248

Do you have a wheel cart that is big enough for all the kits? We need to gather that type of equipment before we leave campus on Wednesday to head to the hotel.

We can start on Monday sending an email with the restaurants to the students to find out where they would like to eat… I will defer their pick and go where they want to go. Restaurants in the areas of the Zip Code 77058

  1. Applebee’s https://www.yelp.com/biz/applebees-grill-bar-pasadena
  2. Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant >> https://www.yelp.com/biz/lupe-tortilla-webster
  3. Pappas Seafood >> https://www.yelp.com/biz/pappas-seafood-house-webster

  7. Pappasito's Cantina >> https://www.yelp.com/biz/pappasitos-cantina-webster-2

At our working dinner we will outline

  • Contacts- get everyone’s cell number in our phones.
  • Know everyone’s hotel room number.
  • Bring your personal conference schedule of what events/programs/workshops you plan to attend- so we will know the whereabouts of you.
  • Plan our dress attire for the presentation Thursday at 3:30 pm
  • Students- agenda during the presentation- they will serve as the ambassadors to showcasing to the attendees the k-12 pedagogy styles of teaching STEM/ STEAM  since they are education majors- they will just share their goals in classroom management and help with conducting the ice breaker activity/passing out the gifts/ and the raffle for the kit- I do not want them doing the heavy stuff in our presentation you and I got that under control
  • Meet-up times at least three-times per day: Hotel- free breakfast/travel to space center, lunch and dinner
  • Need to know what the students want to eat- any food allergies- so we can pick restaurants for Thursday- Friday and Saturday
  • Technology- laptops to hook-up to their presentation devices
  • Give-a-ways
  • Make sure the students have signed in for the lunches
  • Go over the outline conference agenda- >> https://sites.grenadine.co/sites/spacecenter/en/seec2024/pages/25248

Space Center trip 2024 presenting Notes

Our presentation is only an hour and 30 minutes long

  • 2-7 minutes introduction
  • 5-15- teaching activity lead by the students (STEM and Agricultural and Aquaponics)
  • 15-20- minutes Dr. Miller and teaching standards for STEM classes, curriculum, test, state, and national rubrics
  • 10- the aquaponics model
  • 15-20- minutes Ms. Gay and connecting the librarian to your STEM and Agricultural and Aquaponics research K-12 and beyond
  • 10 Q&A

First 30 minutes teaching STEM: curriculum standards, teaching pedagogy, teaching STEM at the city, state and national levels, STEM classroom engagement… remember you get the first 30 minutes to talk about STEM teaching noting how you put it in your teaching to students who want to be teaching on the STEM side. You will share your expertise in this subject area. Use 7-9 slides covering this topic.

The next 20 minutes the students talk about being up and coming K-12 educators and how they would teach STEM lessons. They do not need to have any PPT slides. This section is called Enrichment Engagement-Perspectives from Education Student Leaders. They can showcase the kit as a classroom activity.

As far as the agriculture and aquaponics information, you can take those slides out because I got you covered on that section I put all that information into my 30 minute presentation which I will talk the last 30 minutes as the librarian for agriculture, food and natural resources. I will share my expertise in this library research area

We will yield the last 10 minutes for Q&A
