Total Wellness @ PVAMU: PPTSelected as members of the 2020 RISE Supervisory Cohort team, many project topics were discussed that could potentially serve to enhance the lines of communication between supervisors and supervisees. When selecting a project to pursue, it became apparent that a meaningful and sustainable project would be necessary that could: 1) promote the growth of employees; 2) increase the work productivity of its current faculty and staff members; and 3) indirectly enhance the learning and social experiences of PVAMU student population. Thus, the Office of Human Resources at Prairie View A&M University Training Academy’s R.I.S.E. - 2020 Supervisory Cohort in conjunction with the assistance of PVAMU Wellness Group selected to propose the “Total Wellness Program @ PVAMU”. This submitted proposal outlines the importance of a total wellness package for the faculty, staff and students of the university. We believe that employees can benefit greatly from a break space/place to provide an internal safe space away from their offices but locally situated on our existing campus. We, the 2020 Supervisory Cohort, further believe that the Total Wellness Program @PVAMU project will have an impact on the improvement of employee morale and retention, will lower costs associated with sick leave and employee burnout, support employees’ physical and emotional needs and encourage a healthier lifestyle that will increase employee’s productivity. Additionally, it is believed that “healthier employees are more likely to have a higher level of energy and increased concentration” (Meyer, 2016). We, further, believe that employees with increased productivity will directly provide a positive impact on the customers we serve, in this case, our PVAMU students and ultimately assist in enhancing student success and contributing significantly to improved student recruitment efforts.
