Voting in Texas

Registering and Voting in Texas

Registration Deadline (Texas): October 5, 2020.

Your application has to be received by the voter registrar office in your county by this deadline or postmarked 30 days before the election

Registration requirements

Early Voting: October 13-October 30, 2020 (all registered voters may vote early)

Election Day: November 3, 2020

You need one of these forms of ID to vote in Texas (exceptions are listed in this FAQ, but are limited):

  • Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • United States Passport (book or card)
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
  • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
  • United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
  • United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
  • Registering to vote in Texas

You can't register online in Texas. Texas Votes can have one of their members register you to vote or you can have one mailed to you), or fill out the form online, print, sign it, and mail it in.

If you have a disability, you may vote early by mail, or you may receive accommodation (including assistance or curbside voting) to vote in person.
