Bachelor of Science in Architecture
The Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, (pre-professional program) provides the common ground for studies in architecture. It is intended to cover the basic content for the preparation of an educated practitioner and to lead to professional studies at the graduate level.
The Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree has two concentrations:
Program A: The professional concentration, leads directly to enrollment in the Master of Architecture professional degree.
Program B: The non-professional concentration, provides a basic education in architecture with the opportunity to study a broad range of elective opportunities.
Both tracks consist of 132 credit hours of undergraduate courses.
Master of Architecture
The Master of Architecture (professional program) prepares students for roles in the profession of architecture by building on the content of the pre-professional degree through intensive and focused advanced studies in the field of architecture practice and design.
The Master of Architecture is the accredited, professional degree offered in architecture for students entering the School of Architecture starting Fall 2002.
There are three program options available for students wishing to complete the professional degree in architecture. For the official requirements for a Master of Architecture, see the Prairie View A&M University Catalog.
Program I – For students matriculating from the professional track of the Bachelor of Science in Architecture (pre-professional) degree. This option requires 36 semester credit hours of study at the graduate level. Program II – For students matriculating from a four-year, pre-professional program. This option requires between 48 and 60 semester credit hours of study, depending on the extent and level of the preparation of the applicant. Program III – For students entering with a bachelors degree in some field other than architecture. This option requires 117 semester credit hours of study involving a combination of undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
