Students of the Undergraduate Medical Academy must complete at least 25 volunteer hours every semester they're enrolled.
Volunteer hours do not need to specifically be related to medicine or health science, but that type of experience is encouraged where possible.
Sometimes the perfect volunteer opportunity for you may not exist yet, but you can always create your own volunteer opportunity by communicating with the director or manager of an organization you are interested in volunteering at.
Where possible, visiting the organization in-person is preferred because it shows a dedication and drive that emailing often doesn't. However, in some situations, email may be the best available option.
For additional questions about the UMA's Volunteer requirement, students may contact Ms. Quyen Huynh, Assistant Director and Volunteer Coordinator, at qmhuynh@pvamu.edu.
