Room 108 is available to PVAMU faculty and staff during hours that the library is open. Room 508 is available Monday thru Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Officially recognized student organizations may schedule the room through their sponsors.
John B. Coleman Library’s group study rooms on the 2nd and 4th* floors provide a place for our PVAMU students to engage in collaborative work and study. Staff may ask group study room users to leave if the room is being used for anything other than its intended purpose. Single users in the group study room may be asked to vacate the room. Priority will be given to groups.
Group study rooms are generally first come-first served; no reservation is normally required. Because the rooms are not reserved, an honor system of cooperation is expected from every student. A two-hour limit may be enforced if there is a waiting list for use and a reservation system will be instituted as needed.
Damage to the room will result in the loss of the ability to occupy the room. Noise levels from any conversations must not disturb others. All group study room users are expected to be courteous and leave the room ready for the next group. Unattended personal property may not be used to “hold” a room by any individual or group and may be removed by Libraries’ staff to allow others to use the space.
Staff reserves the right to enter the group study room at any time. Any obstruction to the windows is prohibited. The University and its staff are not responsible for unattended, lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
Eating is allowed in the group study room, however, spilled food and drink are damaging and degrade the overall longevity and comfort of library furnishings. Use covered mugs and cups, avoid messy foods and report spills immediately. Clean up after yourself, dispose of trash properly, and empty liquids into bathroom sinks.
* The 4th floor is currently closed for renovation.
John B. Coleman Library’s individual study rooms on the 2nd floor provide a place for our PVAMU students to engage in private study and video conferencing. Staff may ask room users to leave if the room is being used for anything other than its intended purpose.
The Individual Study Rooms are available for 2 hour periods; reservations are required. Rooms must be occupied within 15 minutes of requested time. Circulation staff reserve the right to allow use of rooms for two hour periods (first come, first served) when no reservation is pending.
Damage to the rooms will result in the loss of the ability to occupy any of these rooms in addition to any fines and fees for cost of repair or replacement. Noise levels from any conversations must not disturb others. Study room users are expected to be courteous and leave the room ready for the next individual.
